Am I going to be drug tested?
Regular and random drug and alcohol testing are common requirements in recovery residences. We do administer drug/alcohol tests at Tabula Rasa, twice per week – and randomly with or without cause.
What do you provide to residents?
Housing costs at Tabula Rasa include laundry, utilities, all necessary furniture and cooking utensils, WiFi, live cable streaming service and a land line telephone – residents are responsible for their own toiletries, food, clothes and laundry detergent
TV’s are not provided in bedrooms, but residents are welcome to buy their own. There are no cable connections since cable provided is a live streaming service.
What is sober living?
A sober living residence is simply a safe, sober living environment meant for people in recovery. Different homes are structured in different ways and requirements and rules from house to house vary. The person seeking to find a sober living home should do their research to make sure they choose a home that aligns with their own recovery plan.
When can I see my family?
Residents of Tabula Rasa are free to visit family members during the day when they are not at work or engaging in other responsibilities. Although we encourage individuals to focus solely on themselves for the first few weeks after they move in, we understand and support the fact that family integration can be a very important part of recovery! We allow overnight passes with approval and even have designated visiting hours at the home for family members.
How long can I stay?
Tabula Rasa’s policy is to support a resident driven length of stay. We encourage you to decide how long you stay in sober living. You can stay as long as you feel that the home is a benefit to you. The goal is to help our residents reach a point where they feel that they can be independent outside of sober living. The amount of time it takes to reach that point varies greatly from person to person, however we do recommend at least six months.
What if I can’t afford to pay?
We have the ability to be very flexible with housing costs! Most residents can pay a weekly fee when they initially move in, which greatly reduces the burden for most people. Part of the requirement to live at Tabula Rasa is to obtain employment, which will of course allow you to pay. If circumstances do impede on this, the last thing we want is for individuals to be discouraged from applying for sober housing due to the inability to pay. We are aware of resources that can help with issues like this and we would be happy to assist you in locating and utilizing these resources until you are able to afford to pay for housing.
When can I get a job?
Working is a very normal responsibility for most individuals. We encourage residents to obtain employment as soon as possible but require them to obtain employment within a certain time period. We have resources to refer you to if you are having trouble finding a job on your own, and we are happy to help you figure out where to begin if you are feeling a little lost with the process.
Can I have my car?
We do allow you to have your car while living at Tabula Rasa, under certain conditions. We have a limited number of off-street parking spaces available, so we ask that residents register their cars with the Residential Director if they do plan on parking on the premises. Drivers must comply with all state laws and cars must be in working condition.
